About

How it started

Like many food stories, mine began with missing home. When I moved to Germany 15 years ago, I wasn’t necessarily missing Mexican food—I was missing the variety and quality Mexico offers, especially nixtamal tortillas and chiles that were nearly impossible to find.

The real revelation came when I discovered a shop selling Latin products and a fair Mexican chiles selection—varieties didn’t know, though some flavors felt familiar. So I started experimenting with chiles and learning about them. What began as catering and pop-up dinners became a mission to share authentic Mexican and Latin American flavors with anyone craving them, wherever they are.

Authenticity Matters

Living abroad opened my eyes: many products and restaurants claim to be Mexican but aren’t. I discovered that Mexican cuisine is far more vast and complex than I imagined—and widely misrepresented. Especially with chiles—most people just say “chili” without knowing there are countless varieties, heat levels, flavors, and cooking methods, all deeply rooted in Mexican culture. That’s what picosa.co is about: helping you discover the real thing wherever you are, through recipes, restaurant guides, and the stories behind the flavors.

The mission

Food is culture, memory, and adventure. My goal is simple: elevate your cooking and expand your horizons. Whether you’re making vegan dishes more exciting or exploring how spice-forward cooking opens doors to healthier, more sustainable eating, there’s a world of flavor waiting. Let’s cook, taste, and travel through food together.
